Fat Freezing Cryolipolysis FAQ's

What is Cryolipolysis?
Cryolipolysis, Cryotherapy or Cryogenic Lipolysis, commonly known as "fat freezing", is a non-surgical alternative used to reduce specific areas of unwanted subcutaneous fat.
Cryolipolysis is a proven method of non-surgical fat reduction which has been subject to clinical trials and scientific studies, and has been proven to kill fat cells in each application of the treated area. The procedure is most often used for permanent reduction of stubborn fat pockets and for general body sculpting.

Where do the fat cells go?
Simply put, your body digests them. Just like any energy source, they are cleared through the lymphatic system.

Will I put the weight back on?
Our bodies contain a finite number of fat cells, and therefore the cells will not reproduce. In other words, when the fat cells leave the body via the lymphatic system, they cannot return. However, an individual’s excessive calorie intake could trigger the remaining fats cells to compensate and increase in size. It is therefore important to maintain a healthy lifestyle following your treatment.

Does Fat Freezing Cryolipolysis hurt?
The method is 100% non-invasive; this means no scalpels, needles, anaesthetic or sedation. With no restrictions or limitations imposed and clients are free to resume their routines immediately after treatment.

Are there any side effects?
There are no adverse long-term effects associated with Fat Freezing Cryolipolysis. The concept of fat freezing is to specifically target and destroy fat cells and not cause any other damage. It is proven that our skin and fat are affected at different temperatures; therefore you can freeze the fat but not harm the skin. With that said, if undergoing 4D Fat Freezing Cryolipolysis individuals may experience a little bruising and numbness, which tends to last several days.

Is Fat Freezing Cryolipolysis safe?
Because of its non-invasive nature, Fat Freezing Cryolipolysis has considerably low risk. Fat Freezing Cryolipolysis is considered safe for most individuals, although there are certain risks associated with any kind of cosmetic procedure. Some side effects may include redness, localised bruising and reduced sensation in the treated area. These are considered normal and usually go away on their own within a few days after treatment.

How often will I need this procedure?
Fat Freezing Cryolipolysis can only be performed once a fortnight on the same targeted area. We cannot guarantee specific results, however, on average each session can result in up to 20% fat reduction and in most cases 2 - 4 treatments on the same area depending on its size is recommended to achieve noticeable results.

Will this work on loose skin and cellulite?
Unfortunately, Fat Freezing Cryolipolysis is not designed to tighten loose or stretched skin. This may require more invasive approaches such as lipectomies. However our upcoming new LymFATics Celulite Pressolipolysis incorporates controlled massage compression  to stimulate fibroblast activity, the type of cells that can produce and repair collagen and elastin which is needed to reduce and prevent the formation of cellulite.

Is Fat Freezing Cryolipolysis a cure for Obesity?
Fat Freezing Cryolipolysis is not a substitute for invasive weightloss surgeries and nor is it a treatment for weightloss. Instead, it is used for body contouring to target troublesome stubborn areas of fat, e.g. abdominal pouches, for a more slimmer look.

Is there an age limit?
Clients must be 18 yrs or older.

What happens during the treatment?
Once treatment areas have been identified, the therapist will place a cool gel pad on the areas to help protect the skin. A 4D or 360 cryolipolysis applicator is then attached to the subcutaneous fat and the treatment begins, targeted areas will be exposed to  a cooling temperature of -8 degrees celsius, the optimum freezing temperature to permanently destroy fat cells. This procedure will last 30 minutes per application, during which time you are able to listen to music and use your phone or simply relax while the treatment gets to work.
