HlFU FAQ's

WHAT IS HIFU?

HIFU (High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound) is the ultimate non-surgical treatment to lift, firm, tighten and contour your face, neck and body.  HIFU is the only non-surgical technology that can target collagen and elastin beyond the dermis of the skin.A single session of HIFU can deliver visible effects in lifting, firming and skin tightening. The treatment is quick, tolerable and has no downtime.

The HIFU treatment is a safe non-invasive treatment designed for facial and neck lifting, anti-ageing and body sculpting. Whether it’s due to ageing, weight loss or weight gain, this treatment is a non-surgical tightening, firming and lifting solution.

What is 7D Linear HIFU?

7D HIFU Linear Technology enables 7 treatment depths to increase collagen and rebuild elastin in the epidermis, dermis, and SMAS layer, as well as cause the degradation of fats in the subcutaneous fat layer.

New linear shots drastically reduce energy loss caused by the spacing between traditional dot shot HIFU systems resulting in better treatment coverage, faster treatment time and minimal pain or discomfort.

The non-invasive and non surgical procedure is best for lifting and tightening the face, neck, arms, tummy and bra line, as well as enhancing jawline definition, reducing double chin and the appearance cellulite.

How does a HIFU procedure work?

HIFU  is a non-surgical, non-invasive skin tightening treatment that uses ultrasound to lift and tighten collagen, and elasticity of the skin. This high-intensity focused ultrasound heats up tissues underneath the surface of the skin to stimulate the body’s natural regeneration process, lifting and tightening the skin. This boosts the body’s healing responses, naturally increases the levels of collagen in the tissues, helping to reduce the signs of ageing.  As the collagen increases, a gentle lifting and tightening of the skin is the result. The Collagen production helps keep skin healthy and younger-looking.

This HIFU technology is revolutionising facial rejuvenation by penetrating into the skin’s deeper levels without the need for invasive surgery. This means you will need minimal down time and can go back to work right after treatment.

The procedure takes around 30-60 minutes depending on chosen area.

WHO IS THE IDEAL CANDIDATE for HIFU?

A suitable candidate is any adult who has noticed that the skin on their face and neck has become lax and wishes to tighten and uplift their skin. For patients in their 30s it is typically used to stimulate collagen production and hence help delay the ageing process. Patients in their 40s and 50s are the  most common age group who have  this treatment.
HIFU is not recommended for people who have heart disease, liver, kidney or skin disease, open wounds or lesions, cystic acne, bells palsy or implanted electrical devices. **We cannot do HIFU on areas that have recently been injected with fillers (within 2 months) ** we cannot do HIFU if you have had Anti-Wrinkle within the last 7 days
before your appointment

Does HIFU Hurt?

HIFU may cause some discomfort. Comfort levels vary from person to person and level of intensity of treatment. You do not feel the heat but in some areas close to the bone it can be slightly painful for the few seconds that the therapy is being applied in that spot.

Is HIFU good for jowls?

The answer is yes! Sagging skin below your chin and along the lower jawline is commonly referred to as Jowls. HIFU provides a non-surgical treatment for jowls with heat energy that focuses on lifting, skin tightening, and firming. For those beginning to notice sagging and loose skin, our HIFU treatments can help your jowls by reducing skin laxity in this area and redefining your jawline.

Can HIFU be combined with Injectables or other cosmetic procedures?

The answer is yes, but we recommend the following:

• Avoid filler in or near treatment areas 8 weeks prior

• Avoid anti-wrinkle in or near treatment areas 3 weeks prior

• Avoid any laser treatments on the area 2 weeks prior

• Avoid any facial peels 4 weeks prior

• Avoid microdermabrasion 2 weeks prior

• Avoid PDO Mono Threads in or near treatment areas 6 weeks prior

Does HIFU reduce facial fat?

HIFU technology can reduce fat on the face and body. Excess facial fat such as double chin, jowls, and chubby cheeks can be reduced with a proper HIFU treatment. Not only does HIFU destroy fat, but it also boosts collagen growth which results in skin tightening and firmer skin.

Does HIFU Help with a double chin?

Our non-invasive and non-surgical HIFU treatments can help diminish your double chin and define your jawline. By targeting the deep layers of the skin, this slows down the ageing signs and lifts and tightens your skin. This lifting and skin tightening can help get rid of the double chin.

We usually do a HIFU neck lift at the same time as the double chin treatment. With our non-surgical neck lift in Brisbane, the HIFU healing process kickstarts collagen production, tightening and lifting the skin of the neck.

What is the recovery time?

The beauty of this non-invasive treatment is that there is no downtime. Temporary side effects can include swelling, numbness, and bruising.

When will I see results, how long do results last and how many sessions will I need?

You may achieve excellent results with only one or two sessions session depending on the targeted area/s . Some clients will see and feel an initial effect right after the procedure, generally a refreshed glowing look, but the real results appear over the following 2 to 3 months as new collagen works to lift and tighten the skin. Treatment can be repeated after three to four months. Results can last 1 to 2 years, however this depends on a variety of different factors including age, health, how much collagen pre-existed to build on, skin laxity,  and lifestyle and diet. Some clients may benefit from additional treatments.

HIFU can also be extremely effective when combined with other treatments. We can customise a treatment plan for you suited to your budget.

How often can I get HIFU?

To get optimal and long-lasting results, we recommend two sessions spaced 2-3 months apart in the first year. Then repeat one to two sessions a year to maintain results. You may need a few extra treatments 3 months apart for trickier areas.

What are the do's and dont's after HIFU?

  • Avoid the Sun

  • I·t is important for you to try to prevent yourself from exposure to sunlight and cold for a few weeks

  • The reason is that avoiding the sun will help to prevent hyperpigmentation and reduce the chance of sunburn and skin damage

  • This should be continued until the skin tightening process is completed

  • Take a Break From Alcohol

  • Drinking alcohol should be avoided after the treatment for up to 7 days

  • Alcohol makes your liver to do extra work. After the treatment procedure, your liver will be tasked with breaking down the deactivated fat

  • Consuming alcohol means that the liver now has to break down alcohol in addition to the deactivated fat

  • Don’t Scratch Your Skin

  • Avoid scratching your skin after you have had your treatment done

  • At this time, your skin will be very sensitive, and scratching your skin increases the risk of skin damage

  • Drink More Water

  • Drink lots of water after your treatment and keep your body hydrated

  • Water will also help in your recovery by increasing the rate at which collagen is produced in the body

  • Don’t have Hot Showers or Baths

  • Always avoid hot showers, saunas, spas, steam rooms after your treatment

  • When taking your shower or bath, use cold water as this will help keep the natural protective oil on your skin and also prevent skin irritation

  • If at all you must use hot water, you are better off using lukewarm water as this will facilitate the quick recovery of your skin

  • Try to avoid excessive exercise or anything that overly raises your body heat
